Šumi candies are produced by the company Šumi Gorenjka d.o.o., which brings together two of the largest Slovenian confectionery brands: Šumi and Gorenjka (originally from Lesce, Gorenjska). Candy production takes place at our modern production facility in Krško.

Yes, Šumi remains a proud Slovenian brand with more than 150 years of tradition, keeping its expertise and production on local soil.

The Šumi brand name originates from the founders’ surname. In 1876, husband and wife Franc and Josipina Šumi opened their first confectionery workshop in the center of Ljubljana. From their surname and a small family shop, one of the most recognizable and beloved candy brands in the region evolved over the decades. Today, we proudly continue this tradition at Šumi Gorenjka d.o.o.

Our production facility is located at Cesta 4. julija 86a, Krško. It is a high-tech factory that meets the strictest quality certificates for food production.

Currently, we focus exclusively on production. However, you can find our products on the shelves of all major retailers across Slovenia and abroad.

We use natural flavors and colors in the development of our recipes. Our legendary lines, such as Visoki C, are also enriched with vitamins—a tradition we have maintained for decades.

At Šumi Gorenjka d.o.o., we follow strict standards (HACCP, IFS), ensuring that every candy that leaves the Krško factory is safe and of premium quality.

Our assortment includes many products that do not contain ingredients of animal origin.

Jelly Candies: These hold the official V-Label certificate, meaning they are entirely plant-based (we use pectin instead of gelatin). Look for the yellow symbol on the packaging.

Other Candies: Many of our other candies are suitable for vegans based on their ingredients but are not (yet) labeled with an official mark. In these cases, we recommend checking the ingredient list on the packaging.

Obtaining an official certificate (such as V-Label) is a gradual process. However, we guarantee that recipes without animal-derived ingredients are prepared with the same care as those with a certificate.

We are actively working on the transition to a circular economy in accordance with the PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation). Our goal is to optimize packaging to be as easy to recycle as possible while maintaining the freshness and quality of the candies.

We are aware of our environmental responsibility, which is why we are proud holders of the RSPO certificate. This means the company uses sustainably produced palm oil that does not cause deforestation or destroy the habitats of endangered species.

In compliance with the latest standards and safety requirements, we guarantee that our packaging does not contain hazardous PFAS coatings.

In our production facility in Krško, certain lines are manufactured in accordance with Halal and Kosher standards. These certificates guarantee the highest level of raw material traceability and process cleanliness. Products with these certificates are specially marked on the packaging and are intended for both domestic and international markets.
